100% Merlot
Dense purple black right to the rim, almost opaque, with a nose of toasty coffee-inflected black fruits, really rich with notes of black cherry, briary, with blueberry too. On the palate dense and intense, with substantial ripe tannins behind, hugely structured yet so very supple, rich and long, creamed without a trace of sweetness going to a wonderfully tactile, mineral finish. Very grown up.

At just 2.2 hectares, Château Séraphine is small even by Pomerol standards. This is the Krajewski family base from where they run both Château Séraphine and their Grand Cru St Emilion, Clos Cantenac, with Charlotte Krajewski making the wine at both properties. Trained initially in the UK and with widespread experience over several years working in New Zealand, Australia and Washington, Charlotte moved back to Bordeaux in 2018 to take over the day to day running of the vineyards and wineries. Her quest is to achieve an ever-greater expression of Pomerol’s unique terroir and she isn’t afraid of innovation, which means that every year there is something new to discover on our visits.
