A Glass With Our Growers

We are so proud of the relationship that we have with our growers. Each has their own unique story, viticultural expertise and individual winemaking talents. We really do only work with the best, applying the mantra that if it isn’t excellent enough for us to drink then we wouldn’t sell it. This is of course spearheaded by our buying director and Master of Wine, Nicola Arcedeckne-Butler.

We are excited to share these stories with you in an initiative we have called ‘A Glass with our Growers’. Buy a ticket to these events and we will deliver the wine so you can share a glass with the grower themselves. Master of Wine student Lettie Fardon, from our team, will lead these sessions on Zoom and cover everything and anything you may want to know, giving you the opportunity to submit any questions or curiosities in advance.

Previous Events

Part I: Max Sichel of Château Argadens

To kick off our series we were joined by Max Sichel, 7th generation of the famous Sichel family. We tasted our House Claret by Château Argadens as well as the Château Argadens Blanc. The Sichel family are owners of Château Angludet, and part-own Palmer in Margaux along with a number of other vineyards. As well as being tremendously charismatic and knowledgeable on the region. Our conversation covered the recent 2022 harvest, current developments in Bordeaux, sustainability and much more as we tasted the wines.

Part II: Damien Chauvet of Henri Chauvet Champagne

In the second of our series Damien Chauvet, the third generation at the helm of Henri Chauvet Champagne, joined us for a Christmas special. We talked about all things Champagne, their ‘secret wall’ as well as what makes them notable as one of the few remaining traditional artisanal Champagne houses still riddling by hand. We tasted two bottles of their delightful bubbles to get us in the mood for festive drinking.

Part III: Adèle and Elsa Matrot of Domaine Matrot of Domaine Matrot

We were thrilled that Adèle and Elsa Matrot of Domaine Matrot joined us in the New Year. What better way to dust off the winter cobwebs than by exploring the wines of Burgundy with wines from one of the most exciting Domaines in the region.

Part IV: Charlotte Krajewski from Clos Cantenac, Saint Emilion

In the fourth in our series A Glass with our Growers, we were in Bordeaux with winemaker Charlotte Krajewski of Grand Cru Clos Cantenac in Saint Emilion. Charlotte and her father Martin have been part of the Private Cellar story since the very beginning and we are delighted that you could get to know her too. We tasted a trio of wines: the much loved L’Exuberance Rosé du Clos Cantenac 2021, Petit Cantenac 2017 and Grand Cru Clos Cantenac itself from the superb 2016 vintage.
