The team at Arlot are very happy with their 2023s which gave them some 43 hectolitres per hectare, their largest harvest since 2009, and stands in stark contrast to their 2024 average of 8 hl/ ha. Individual terroirs really stand out in 2023, with each cru markedly different from its neighbour – it is hard sometimes to remember that these vines are in contiguous vineyards, not split across several kilometres!

In the commune of Premeaux Prissey but closer to Nuits St Georges, this 6.2 hectare monopole covers a huge range of soils between the bottom and top of the slope, with limestones from different epochs, and therefore giving different attributes, along with marked iron-rich red soils. 1.6 hectares are in the process of being replanted, 0.6 hectares with Chardonnay on the more limestone[1]rich soils and 2029 will see the first production. Deeper and darker to the rim, with a light tawny touch, with a nose of tight dark black fruit, very pure with some orange zest notes, leading to a substantial palate with structured tannins behind, grilled, almost savoury fruit, floral before building in volume and going to a fine, mineral finish.
