Technical Sheet |
A tight leafy, green fruited nose with some classic Riesling petrol notes leads to a rich, ripe, intense palate with incredibly mouth-watering saline fruit, bright and leafy, this really packs a good punch! Lovely poise right to the racy finish, this wine really shows its class and has a long life ahead. From a tiny 0.87 hectare walled vineyard within the 3.6-hectare appellation.

The Grosses Gewächs (GG) designation dates from the early 2000s and applies to dry wines from Germany’s very best vineyards. To be permitted the Grosses Gewächs label, wines must come from a Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) site, not exceed 50 hectolitres per hectare, be hand harvested and, most importantly, be fully ripe. Von Buhl’s vineyards are in the Pfalz, benefiting from low rainfall and long sunshine hours thanks to the proximity of the Vosges mountains; 45% of their organically farmed vineyards are rated as either Erste Lage (the equivalent of premier cru) or Grosse Lage (grand cru).
