Deep red to the rim with a nose of dark and dense red and black fruits, damson and herbs, with some dark chocolate and mocha notes, leading to a palate of bitter high-octane chocolate, dark fruits, taut and tense and giving little slack at present. Supple, ripe tannins behind, creamed black skins and then rich, dense and long to the finish – taking no prisoners just now! Drink 2024 - 2029

The Vacqueyras rules stipulate that the wines have a minimum of 50% Grenache but as the Clos de Cazaux vineyard was planted before the rules came into existence – some vines are over 100 years old – its high percentage of Syrah is allowed even though it may not be acknowledged on the label.
