Vallerots is split between a lieu dit Villages appellation and a premier cru with the same name, just above Premier Cru Vaucrains; Machard de Gramont’s vines are close to Vaucrains. Vibrant and limpid, with a much tighter black fruit nose, rich, perfumed, crunchy and tight, refreshing, leading to a palate of creamed black fruits, spiced, tarry, elegant rather than powerful with plenty of depth and a really supple, unobtrusive tannic structure underneath, going to a wonderfully fresh, vibrant, blackcurrant bud-infused finish.
