Château La Serre, Grand Cru Classé St Emilion 2018

Red | France | Bordeaux | 14.5% | Full-bodied red

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. A nose of toasty grilled red and black fruits, reminiscent of a crème brulée with fresh blackberries. On the palate typical La Serre characteristics - substantial smooth creamy black fruits, very supple tannins, very visible oak influence but with a zip of freshness too. Love it! Drink 2024 - 2032

This 7 hectare vineyard, a stone's throw from the centre of St Emilion is planted on a south-facing limestone plateau (giving the estate its name, "the greenhouse") and the vines are on average 35 years old. The soil, covered with a thin layer of clay, is tilled manually to avoid the use of herbicides, and traditional interventions such as pruning and de-budding control yields to give a broadly textured, delicious wine from 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.
