Technical Sheet |
Ceretto’s 21 hectares of vineyards are spread across both Barbaresco and Barolo. The Domaine was founded in the 1930s by Riccardo Ceretto, who owned no vineyards and bought in what he needed to make his wines; his sons, Bruno and Marcello, started buying vineyards in the 1960s and built their first winery in Bricco Asili to take care of the Barbaresco fruit, followed by a second winery in 1976 for the production of Moscato d’Asti. Finally, in 1978 they bought a single vineyard plot, Bricco Rocche, in Castiglione Falletto, and built their third winery to vinify their Barolos. The brothers have now been joined by their children in the family venture, bringing their own innovations whilst ensuring that the primary influence is always the vineyard, not people or trends. The estate is worked according to biodynamic principles, with minimal intervention and in the cellar the use of oak (old or new) has been reduced to a minimum in order to major on each individual vineyard’s characteristics.

Deep vibrant red black with a nose of big red fruits, again a hint of beeswax and candles, perfumed with really sweet black fruits, stony and mineral, gloriously attractive, leading to massive impact entry with huge musky, perfumed black fruits, rich, intense, with huge tannins behind, really ripe and going to a long, rich, berry-sweet finish with a lovely zip of freshness. Superb. Hugely alluring but not approachable yet.
