Technical Sheet |
On the southern side of Gevrey, just below grand cru Charmes Chambertin. Deep purple black with some red glints, not opaque to the rim but still dense. On the nose, big rich grilled black fruits, spiced, with notes of damson and mulberry but not sweet, spiced and again a note of new leather. On the palate, big black fruit, rich and dense, super-expressive, toasty and grilled with supple mulberry and loganberry notes behind, not lush, with substantial tannins almost masked by the fruit going to a rich, spiced, impressively long finish with notes of dark chocolate behind. Drink 2028 - 2035

The Domaine has 15 hectares of vines in total, split almost evenly between the communes of Gevrey Chambertin and Marsannay, predominantly planted to Pinot Noir with small amounts of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and, from 2022, Aligoté. Farming here combines organic and biodynamic principles (particularly with regard for lunar phases for vineyard work and cellar operations) but the Domaine is certified for neither – Pierre-Jean Roty says they follow what they know works rather than adopting new trends.
