Madame de Beaucaillou, Haut Médoc 2020

Red | France | Bordeaux | 13.5% | Lighter, fruitier red

An Haut-Médoc which comes from 55 hectares of vines in Cussac and Listrac, owned originally by Bruno Borie’s mother, and named in her honour. Bruno called this his ‘friends and family wine for roast chicken on a Sunday’ – so it was fitting that the end of harvest lunch was a feast of poule au pot – a tradition brought in by Henry IV who declared that everyone should be able to have chicken in a pot on a Sunday.

Deep intense purple black with a nose of gorgeously juicy red and black fruit, some loganberries, perfumed and almost tactile. On the palate rich, intense, with red and black fruits, nicely tart for freshness with supple tannins, some floral notes, lightly jammy and pretty with deliciously fresh finish. Nice wine!
