Technical Sheet |
Very pale in colour with a deliciously buttery, creamed white fruit nose and a distant hint of banoffee pie – unashamedly Chardonnay! On the palate tight, fresh white stone fruits, citrus and lemony, ripe and clean, with a lovely, lightly spiced finish. Very satisfying indeed.
Barrel fermented with a small amount of new wood, using native yeasts.
"Great concentration and weight. Aromas of wild fennel, ripe nectarines and lemon curd. Nutty wild-yeast complexity and toastiness from barrel fermentation and a hint of new oak." Decanter Magazine, Weekday wines, February 2021 edition. Reviewed by Tina Gellie.
"I love these guys, and here we have a pinpoint accurate Chardonnay from the legendary Margaret River turf. But, stop press. The famous names are now £50-£90 a bottle, and this Lenton Brae number limbos under every recognised MR price point. Controversial; decant it. Very few Chardonnays on earth sing like this one does at this price." - Matthew Jukes
I would buy this wine again!
Close your eyes, or otherwise taste blind, and it is a Chablis, and a good one at that. Tart (but this side of sharp) and flinty. Didn't love it immediately, but love need not always be instant. Have sipped two glasses and am happily sipping a third as I type this. My only bottle. I shall need more.| Rating |

We first offered the delicious Lenton Brae range in 2018; this was Private Cellar’s first foray into the Margaret River region, and the wines enjoyed instant, well-deserved success. They embody everything that Western Australian wines are all about - cool, poised, elegant and supremely stylish.
