Technical Sheet |
Pierre Meurgey makes wines in both the Mâconnais and the Côte d’Or, from a combination of his own vineyard holdings, vines which he leases from family members and fruit bought in from contacts he has known since his days as a négociant. He makes a variety of wines and is continuously adding new appellations to his portfolio as he identifies potential sites so this year we are thrilled to offer two stunning new whites from Pernand Vergelesses. 2022 gave Pierre some breathing space with good yields and a near-perfect growing season; even his St Véran escaped the hail which hit further north in the region. Pierre uses two different cellars for his vinifications, one just south of Beaune in Bligny and the other in Davayé; he feels that the wines are more rooted in their origins if they are made in the place they are grown.

55 - 85 year old vines from a lieu dit called Le Mont – as the name suggests, it is a big hill with ideal thin soils and is vinified in large old barrels. Bright gold with a nose of tight, mineral white fruit, floral again, less flowery than the Uchizy, with more focus and a light
VV900223buttery note. Tight and mineral on the palate with green flower notes, fresh and intense with racy acidity behind, going to a long, juicy, floral-infused finish. Drink 2024 - 2027
