In its second decade, the Krajewski family’s Clos Cantenac, to the west of St Emilion, continues to go from strength to strength. The vines, which now average around 35 years old, are really getting into their stride and Martin’s daughter Charlotte – Lolly – who has been making the wine there for the past three vintages, is constantly refining how she treats the grapes, both in the vineyard and the cellar, in order to highlight their terroir.

100% Merlot. Inky black, densely coloured with lovely tarry black fruit on the nose, more substantial than the Petit Cantenac with toasty black cherry, blackcurrant and spice. Mouth-coatingly rich and intense on the palate, with dense, ripe black fruits, a floral twist behind, underscored by substantial ripe tannins, more cedar and spice with mocha coffee notes going to a long, ripe finish.
