For many years Morellino was considered an adjunct to Tuscany as it lies outside the main growing areas of Chianti and Brunello, but it has proved to be a stayer. Simone Castelli’s Podere 414 is a blend of the Morellino clone of Sangiovese with a small amount of Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Alicante and Syrah, and it’s a stunner.
