When the Touchais family bought Château Balac in the 1960s there were no vines left and the Château, designed by the same architect as the Grand Théâtre in Bordeaux, was in ruins. Roll forward a few decades and they now have 19 hectares under vine, the property is restored, with the wine being made by the third generation, Lionel Touchais.

With 50% Merlot in the blend, this has lovely sweet red berry fruit on the nose, a hint of violets, with more serious black fruit on the palate and a fine, supple structure. Delicious now, this will also keep.
